Build the October housekeeping roster and close out open safety items
You are the Assistant Housekeeping and Facilities Manager.
What has happened
October brings the cruise group of 22 rooms on 3 October, the gala dinner on 16 October and a wedding on 7 November, with occupancy forecast above 90 per cent for the first fortnight. The housekeeping team of 28 includes full-time, part-time and casual room attendants, two laundry staff and a maintenance officer. Two housekeeping items remain open in the WHS register: the trolley brake near miss and the laundry sanitiser leak. The Housekeeping and Facilities Manager needs a compliant roster within the labour budget and corrective actions for both items to present to the health and safety committee.
Deliverables
- Fortnightly roster for 1 to 14 October with hours and cost summary
- Updated WHS register entries with corrective actions
- Toolbox talk plan
- One-page summary for the health and safety committee

Evidence guide
The roster must match forecast demand, respect minimum shift lengths, rest breaks and penalty provisions, and stay within budget with the cost shown. The investigations must identify underlying causes, not just the immediate error, and propose controls higher on the hierarchy than training alone. The committee summary must be concise and action oriented.
